is no longer an independent corporation, it was once America's oldest and largest drug maker, and played an important role in medical history.
Parke, Davis and Company was founded in
Detroit
,
Michigan
by Dr. Samuel P. Duffield, a physician and pharmacist. In 1860, Dr. Duffield owned a small drugstore at the corner of Gratiot and Woodward Avenues. Dr. Duffield made a variety of pharmaceutical preparations, including Hoffman’s anodyne and mercurial ointment, but was overwhelmed by the operations of the business.

Dr. Duffield and
Hervey Coke Parke
formed a partnership in October 1866, with George S. Davis becoming a third partner in 1867. Parke was a businessman looking for business opportunities and Davis, an ambitious man with skills in sales. Duffield withdrew in 1869 because of poor health and an interest in practicing medicine. The partnership adopted the name Parke, Davis & Company was formally in 1871 and incorporated in 1875.
Parke and Davis made a lot for America for the war time.
Piece of American History and Start of refining Medical. Before a pee tester doctor would looked at the color taste it and smell the pee to diagnose you. I know what! Doctor must been happy for other ways.
It would hold Vail of pee, powder and heated up and a test strips of paper would test it get a color. Test for sugar, albumen test, A Conversation Piece for collector. This is case for a pee tester of Sugar and more. Comes with one tube. This missing only like two powders be complete. Wear from how old it is. Piece hasn't been clean dust and small piece fall out. Some vials have little powder inside.
Fold up make size 4 inches square
Age: Unknown can't find a date on it 1866 company started to help.
Condition: Case is falling a part a little. Dirty and I not sure if smells this piece is old. Look over pictures to see condition.
